Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Article Writing Guidance for ALENA – Journal of Elementary Education

Editor's policy

Article Writing for ALENA – Journal of Elementary Education is published twice a year, every January and December containing papers/articles on ideas and research written by experts, educators, and practitioners in the field of education, learning, teaching in the field of study

General requirements:

  1. Articles are between 3000 and 7000 words in length (including bibliographies, notes, and tables).
  2. Attach a statement that the article has not been published in other publications and in any form.
  3. Each article will be given a plagiarism test.
  4. This article consists of 9 components:

The section in the article does not use chapters (except for research and discussion results), but an indicator that the component or section in the article mentioned can be seen in the first sentence of the first paragraph.

This article is delivered using the following components:

Title: Maximum 14 words. The font used is Times New Roman, font size 14, in the middle, and bold.

Author's name: The author's name is written under the title using the Times New Roman font, Font size 12, and cannot be shortened.  The name of the institution and the email address of the author are written with the author's name.

Abstract: no more than 200 words, written in a single paragraph containing: (1) Background: Place the aimed question in a broad context and highlight the purpose of the research; (2) Research Objectives: Identify the purpose and objectives of the research; (3) Method: Briefly describe the main method or theoretical framework applied; (4) Results: Summarize the main findings of the article; and (5) Conclusion: Indicates the main conclusion or interpretation.. It is typed using font 11 and 1 space.

Keywords: keyword one; keyword two; keyword three (max. five keywords)

Introduction: The introduction is written using [Times New Roman capital letters, Font size 11, and bold].

An introduction containing the research problem; insights and problem-solving plans; a formulation of research objectives; a summary of theoretical studies related to the problem being researched, and the development of a hypothesis. Make sure that in the Background or Introduction there is a mention of relevant previous research, not just mentioning the problem. Try to have a reference to an article from a journal of the last 10 years that strengthens the justification for originality or contribution). [Times New Roman, Font size 12]

Method: Method using [Times New Roman capital letters, Font size 11, and bold].

Methods should be as responsible as possible to describe in detail any issues related to the study design, context, procedures, data analysis, validity or credibility techniques, etc. Methods that are in line with the educational scope of this journal are qualitative, quantitative, and mixed actions or methods. [Times New Roman, Font size 11]

Results and Discussion: using [Times New Roman capital letters, font size 11, and bold].

Results and Discussion contain research findings in the form of research data discussed further or interpreted critically with a very relevant theoretical approach. Data can also be supported with the presentation of tables, images, etc. Tables and figures should be explained with captions in sequential numbering; The caption above (for the table) and the caption below (for the figure). In reference to a particular table or figure, the number must be clearly stated (Table 1, Figure 1, etc.). Tables or images must not completely block the page, a maximum of two-thirds of the page size. The border line of the table is made minimalist by eliminating vertical lines and leaving horizontal lines that are considered necessary. [Times New Roman, Font size 11]

Conclusion and Suggestions: Kesimpula and suggestions using [Times New Roman, Font size 11, and bold].

The conclusion presents a summary of the description of the results and discussion, referring to the purpose of the research. Based on these two things, new points of thought were developed which are the essence of the research findings. [Times New Roman, 11, normal].

The suggestions are prepared based on the findings of the research that have been discussed. Implications or suggestions may refer to practical actions, the development of new theories, and/or further research. It should be written in the form of paragraphs, not in the form of list/numbering items. If forced there is a list/numbering item, but it is written in the form of a paragraph. Don't divide it into a conclusion sub-chapter and a suggestion sub-chapter. [Times New Roman, 11, normal].

List of Reference : using [Times New Roman, 11, and bold].

Reference List Strive to use reference tools such as: Mendeley, EndNote, Zotero, and so on. [Times New Roman, 11]

Make sure that citations/citations in the manuscript are written in the bibliography and vice versa.

Contains referenced sources and at least 80% is in the form of literature published in the last 10 years. The reference list is written in accordance with the American Psychological Association (APA) Fifth edition. All sources listed in the bibliography must be in the article manuscript.
